The T-Series L4 large four-cylinder semi-hermetic piston compressor is the workhorse class of the T-Series single-stage piston line, positioned primarily for environmental simulation test chambers and climate test equipment, with commercial refrigeration, large cold storage plants and cold chain transportation as further applications. One L4 unit covers the mid-to-high duty range where two-cylinder and small four-cylinder machines saturate, delivering 73.6–84.5 m³/h of displacement from a single compact frame while keeping maintenance access open on all service points.
Design generation. The L4 is built on the 3rd-generation T-Series architecture. The cast body uses an optimized structural design with a novel appearance and high structural strength, and the cylinder bores are hardened to improve durability under continuous duty. The re-profiled cylinder head damps exhaust pulsation and lowers operating noise. The new valve plate improves exhaust efficiency and enhances shock resistance. Upgraded bearings increase lubrication effectiveness and reduce the risk of shaft seizure. The motor is optimized for higher operational efficiency, greater overload capacity and an expanded operating range. The piston structure is redesigned with a thinner ring profile to reduce clearance volume and cut internal friction loss — together these changes translate into a smaller vibration signature and a longer service life.

Refrigerant & duty coverage. The L4 accepts R22, R404A and R507A. Performance data in the T-Series brochure is rated at 50 Hz, 20°C suction temperature, without liquid subcooling, across condensing temperatures of 30–50°C and evaporating temperatures from +7.5°C down to −45°C (R404A/R507A) or to −40°C (R22), with dedicated application-limit diagrams for each refrigerant covering motor 1 / motor 2 / motor 3 load steps, additional-cooling operation and electronic liquid injection control.
Protection & service layout. Every L4 compressor ships with a complete 12-port connection layout: high-pressure connection, discharge temperature sensor connector, low-pressure connection, electronic liquid injection control port, oil fill plug, oil drain, magnetic oil filter, oil return (oil separator), crankcase heater, oil pressure differential connections (+/−), and the electronic oil pressure switch connector. Suction and discharge line sizes scale with displacement — 42 mm (1 5/8") or 54 mm (2 1/8") suction with 28 mm (1 1/8") discharge on the L4 range — so piping integrates cleanly into standard refrigeration skids. Energy control (step unloading) is available on request for four-cylinder models at 50% / 100% load steps.
Why buyers choose the L4. Four-cylinder balancing gives smooth torque and low vibration, the semi-hermetic construction keeps the machine sealed for the working life of the unit while leaving the crankcase open for service, and the CCS type approval (Section 4) makes the L4 directly installable on classed fishing vessels — a qualification most commercial piston lines do not carry.
Rating basis: 50 Hz · suction temperature 20°C · without liquid subcooling. Q₀ = cooling capacity (kW), Pe = input power (kW). Values below are taken from the T-Series technical parameter and performance tables; for conditions outside the listed grid (e.g. R404A/R507A below −30°C), the T-Series selection software applies.

Environmental simulation test chambers (primary application). Environmental / climate test chambers are the L4's flagship application: the chamber's compressor must hold a stable setpoint across deep low-temperature and high-temperature cycling, cool down fast, and run reliably for years of repetitive test cycles with minimal service. The L4 matches this duty on every axis the datasheet documents:
Refrigerant fit — R404A and R507A are the standard chamber refrigerants, and both are covered by the published performance tables (plus R22 for legacy chambers);
Deep low-temperature capability — the R404A/R507A tables run to −45°C evaporating at 30–50°C condensing (e.g. BTF4G-30.3GE: 12.57 kW at −45°C / 30°C condensing), supporting the low-temperature end of typical chamber ranges;
Temperature-class spread — within one series, the Z (medium-low temperature) models cover the low-temperature chamber types while the G (medium-high temperature) models cover ambient and high-temperature cycle chambers, so one product family spans the chamber line;
Two-step capacity control (50% / 100%) — lets the chamber controller hold setpoint without short-cycling, cutting wear and stabilizing the measured environment;
Semi-hermetic sealed crankcase + magnetic oil filter — low leakage and clean oil circuit for the long, unattended duty cycles typical of test equipment.
Commercial refrigeration. The L4's 73.6–84.5 m³/h displacement and R22/R404A/R507A coverage make it the standard driver for supermarket low-temperature cases, retail freezer island systems, and mid-size commercial refrigeration plants where a single unit must carry 12–44 kW of refrigerating load (per the CCS-certified nominal points) without staging multiple machines.

Large cold storage units. For frozen and ripening warehouses, the L4 sits comfortably in the medium-capacity band: the R22 performance table extends to −40°C evaporating at 30–50°C condensing (e.g. BTF4G-30.3GE delivers 18.55 kW at −30°C / 30°C condensing), while the R404A/R507A tables reach −45°C for deep-frozen stores. Its four-cylinder balancing keeps vibration low on long-running 24/7 duty, and the semi-hermetic sealed crankcase minimizes leakage maintenance over years of continuous service.

Cold chain transportation & logistics. Reefer and cold-chain infrastructure buyers choose the L4 for its compact 4×φ70×55 / 4×φ75×55 frame (183–206 kg including refrigeration oil) which integrates into standard skid and container refrigeration layouts, its 50 Hz / 220–480 V supply flexibility, and the 12-port connection layout that maps directly onto oil separator, receiver and control-valve arrangements of a typical cold chain plant.

Marine refrigeration (CCS type approved). The certificate's "Intended for" clause covers domestic fishing vessels and ocean-going fishing vessels. On fishing vessels the L4 drives deck refrigeration plants holding the catch below deck — the class approval means the compressor can be installed on a classed vessel with CCS surveyor inspection under the approved product inspection scheme, removing a major compliance obstacle for vessel builders and refit projects. The approved R507A nominal points (−31.5/40.5°C and −6.5/43.5°C) cover both freezing and chilled-catch duty.

Typical system configuration. In the T-Series commercial refrigeration schematic, the compressor works with an oil separator, oil filter, oil pump, oil pressure differential switch and oil level sight glass on the oil circuit; an evaporator circuit with electronic expansion valves and a pressure regulating valve on the low-pressure side; and a condenser, receiver, dryer filter, solenoid valves, thermostatic expansion valve and check valves on the high-pressure side — the L4's 12-port layout matches this arrangement one-to-one.
The T-Series L4 semi-hermetic piston compressors carry a China Classification Society (CCS) Certificate of Type Approval, which is the marine industry's formal confirmation that the manufacturer is capable of producing the certified product to the applicable class rules, and that the type has passed approved testing.

What the approval means for the buyer. After type approval, every production unit is inspected by a CCS surveyor in accordance with the approved product inspection scheme; on satisfactory inspection the Society issues the Marine Product Certificate for the individual machine. The certificate also records the factory's asbestos-free declaration (reviewed by the Society), and it defines the maintenance conditions: design, material or manufacturing changes affecting major characteristics must be re-approved; the factory quality management system must remain effective and consistent; and the Society may conduct unannounced audits of the manufacturing process, with annual periodical audit within three months before and after the anniversary of expiry.
Scope note. The approved product is the refrigeration compressor itself — evaporators, condensers and control boxes are not part of the approval. Copies of the certificate are only valid bearing the Society's stamp, and the paper and electronic certificates are a single whole and must be used together.
